Position Overview:
NHTI is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach Introduction to Psychology. This course provides students with essential knowledge in psychology including psychological disorders, emotions, behaviors, and social psychology, focusing on practical applications and real-world relevance.

Course Description:
PSYC 105 is an introductory college course in psychology, which focuses on the fundamental facts and principles of psychology within the broader context of contemporary personal and social concerns.
Topics may include the historical development of the discipline, scientific methodology, human
development, motivational theory, consciousness, sensation and perception, learning, thinking,
memory, emotions, biological basis of behavior, personality theory, psychopathology, therapy, and research methodology. PSYC 105MC features the study of mindfulness and incorporates mindfulness meditation as an instructional method while also exploring aspects of emotional intelligence as they relate to effective communication and positive psychology. (Note: Students who have received credit for PSYC 105MC cannot also receive credit for PSYC 105C.)
Psychology is an exciting and changing field that has an impact on your life. Although little more than a century old as a formal discipline, the study of psychology has revolutionized how we look at others and ourselves. While psychologists are involved in a broad range of specialties, they share the common goal of attempting to understand behavior. Hopefully, throughout this course you will find that many of the topics covered have relevance in your own life. You may find that you look at some situations differently, that you have some new insights into human behaviors, including your own.
