The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Film, Television & Digital Media (FTVDM). We seek a tenure track Assistant Professor in the production area with a specialization in fiction or documentary directing, cinematography, editing or sound. Expertise in multiple areas of the production curriculum is welcome. This position will also be affiliated with the UCLA American Indian Studies Center (AISC) as part of the UCLA Native American and Pacific Islander Bruins Rising Initiative. Teaching will be done entirely in FTVDM, and service commitments will cross both FTVDM and AISC.
As part of the UCLA Native American and Pacific Islander Bruins Rising Initiative, this search aims to expand access to UCLA for members of these groups as well as support their success and well-being on our campus. The initiative focuses on enhancing UCLA’s intellectual community devoted to Native American and Pacific Islander peoples and supporting inclusive and equitable student experiences.
FTVDM has a long and demonstrated commitment to equity and diversity in academia and in the practice of film and media making. We are dedicated to reflecting the diversity of our Los Angeles location in our research, teaching, and recruitment, and we welcome applications from underrepresented communities.
The search committee and FTVDM at UCLA acknowledge our presence on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Gabrielino/Tongva peoples.
