Job Title: Data Science Engineering Intern

Location: In-Office NYC, New York Headquarters (NON-REMOTE)

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time

Role Summary:

This internship is an exciting hybrid role combining elements of data science, data engineering, and data analytics. We're looking for a curious and driven individual who's eager to develop skills across the data ecosystem. You'll gain exposure to advanced analytical techniques, data pipeline creation, and data visualization while contributing directly to our projects and growth.

Responsibilities:

Data Collection & Preparation:

  • Build and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data is clean, reliable, and ready for analysis.
  • Work with our engineering team to design and optimize data storage solutions for analytics use.
  • Automate data collection processes using tools like SQL, Python, and data integration platforms.

Data Analysis & Insights:

  • Analyze data from various sources (internal and external) to identify trends and insights that drive business decisions.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling to support business teams with actionable insights.
  • Support A/B testing initiatives by setting up experiments, analyzing results, and reporting findings.

Data Science & Predictive Modeling:

  • Develop predictive models to forecast trends and user behavior.
  • Leverage machine learning techniques for classification, clustering, and recommendation systems.
  • Collaborate with product and marketing teams to build models that personalize the customer experience.

Data Visualization & Reporting:

  • Create and maintain dashboards to communicate insights to stakeholders in an accessible format.
  • Provide ad-hoc data visualizations for different departments using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Ensure data accuracy and clarity in all visualizations and reports.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with data engineers, product managers, and marketing teams to translate business needs into data requirements.
  • Share insights and recommendations in team meetings and contribute to strategy discussions.
  • Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Technical Skills:

  • Programming: Proficient in Python and SQL; familiarity with R or Scala is a plus.
  • Data Processing: Experience with data manipulation and cleaning using Pandas or similar libraries.
  • Data Engineering: Knowledge of ETL processes and data pipeline tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Apache Spark).
  • Data Visualization: Proficiency with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Machine Learning: Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate complex findings in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
