Job Summary

W e are seeking a part-time Emergency Management and Business Continuity Contractor to support our efforts in enhancing operational efficiency through strategic emergency preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives. This role will be instrumental in updating and maintaining critical emergency management and business continuity plans, conducting exercises, and ensuring alignment with industry best practices. The position is for a one-year contract with flexible, remote work options and requires occasional on-site presence for training and meetings (1–2 times per quarter).

 

Job Description

  • Assist in the development, review, and updates of emergency management and business continuity plans, procedures, and protocols.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of business continuity exercises and emergency drills.
  • Aid in creating, maintaining, and updating documentation related to emergency response and recovery efforts.
  • Contribute to after-action reviews following training sessions and real-life events to identify lessons learned and improve future responses.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive integration of emergency management strategies across the organization.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices and emerging trends related to emergency management and business continuity.
  • Implement employee outreach and education programs to promote awareness of emergency preparedness and response.
  • Assist in revising and enhancing the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to ensure alignment with current standards and best practices.

 

Skills Required

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in emergency management, business continuity, or disaster preparedness, with a proven ability to lead and manage related programs and initiatives.
  • Design and implement educational initiatives to boost staff awareness of emergency preparedness.
  • Facilitate the review of exercises and actual events to capture lessons learned and optimize future response strategies.
  • Support the update and enhancement of Emergency Operations and Business Continuity Plans, ensuring they meet contemporary best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and engaging leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
  • Strong project management and documentation skills.
  • Experience with ISO 301 or similar standards is preferred.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Public Administration, or a related field (preferred but not required).
