• Proven 5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer (QE) in a Data testing role with a focus on Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Understanding of testing Power BI report functionalities, including data accuracy, drill-throughs, interactivity, and visual components.
• Experience with SQL for data validation and querying data from data sources such as Snowflake.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ICE Data Quality (DQ) tools and methodologies for testing and validating data accuracy and integrity along with ability to create and manage ICEDQ SQL artifacts for mapping and validating migrated data is a huge plus.
• Candidates with ETL and Data Migration Testing or Analisys experience would be ideal
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Selenium and Playwright for end-to-end automation testing is a huge plus.

Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Quality Engineer (QE) with expertise in Power BI reports testing, ICE Data Quality (DQ), and automation testing using Playwright. This role will involve ensuring the accuracy, functionality, and quality of Power BI reports and dashboards by validating data quality, performing end-to-end testing, and automating test cases. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and data engineers to deliver high-quality reporting solutions to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Quality Assurance of Power BI Reports:
• Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to validate the functionality, data accuracy, and performance of Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Ensure that Power BI reports and dashboards meet business requirements and provide meaningful, actionable insights.
• Work closely with the development team to identify and fix defects or discrepancies in reports and data visualizations.
• Data Quality (DQ) Testing:
• Use ICE Data Quality (DQ) tools to assess and monitor data integrity, completeness, consistency, and accuracy in the Power BI reports.
• Create data quality rules and checks to ensure that the data in Snowflake or other data sources is accurate and consistent.
• Investigate and troubleshoot data-related issues, working closely with data engineers and business analysts to resolve them.
• Automation Testing with Playwright:
• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for validating Power BI reports and user interactions using Playwright .
• Automate regression tests and perform end-to-end testing of Power BI reports to ensure functionality across various scenarios and datasets.
• Conduct performance testing to ensure reports load efficiently and meet performance benchmarks.
• Work with developers to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring continuous testing as part of the deployment process.
• Collaboration and Reporting:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure testing coverage aligns with business needs.
• Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to contribute to the iterative development and improvement of Power BI reporting solutions.
• Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test plans, test cases, defect logs, and test reports.
• Bug Reporting and Defect Management:
• Log and track defects in test management systems (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and ensure timely resolution of defects.
• Work with the development and product teams to troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and help ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Identify and propose process improvements, tools, and methodologies that will enhance the testing effectiveness, automation, and overall quality of Power BI reports.
• Stay up to date with the latest testing tools, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve testing practices for Power BI and related technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer (QE) or in a Data testing role with a focus on Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate data consistency and accuracy between systems
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end automation testing.
  • Experience with large data sets in reports embedded in portals
  • Understanding of testing Power BI report functionalities, including data accuracy, drill-throughs, interactivity, and visual components.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and working in an Agile team.
  • Experience with SQL for data validation and querying data from data sources such as Snowflake.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
