Role Overview:
The Internal Accountant will be responsible for handling day-to-day accounting operations, including General Ledger (G/L), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Accounts Payable (A/P), payroll, and process improvements. You will be reporting directly to the CFO and will need to demonstrate attention to detail in preparing reports and inputting data. This role requires an individual with strong accounting expertise, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and sound judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and support schedules, including areas such as accruals, A/R, A/P, payroll, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and depreciation/amortization.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and journal entries.
- Oversee A/R and A/P processes.
- Handle payroll tax reconciliations, 1099s, and business property tax returns.
- Prepare depreciation and amortization schedules.
- Assist with financial statement preparation and employee benefits management.
- Conduct accounting research as needed.
- Collaborate on budgeting and cash flow management.
- Analyze and design spreadsheets to support accounting needs.
Key Requirements:
- 3+ years of General Ledger and accounting experience, including payroll processing for 50+ employees.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, payroll software (such as Zenefits), and BILL vendor payment software.
- Experience in financial statement preparation, payroll processing, worker's compensation audits, wage garnishments, and business property tax filings.
- Familiarity with retirement plans, including 401k census reports and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in financial and accounting software systems, with a strong sense of current accounting technologies that support business operations and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and quickly resolve issues.
Desired Qualifications:
- A BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with multiple accounting systems and software.
- Assistant Controller experience is a plus.
- A strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
