Job Description
Our client, a luxury resort in the Catskills region of New York, is seeking a temporary seasonal line cook to assist in their kitchen. You will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of all food, ensuring superior quality and consistency which represents the company brand.
- Schedule: Thursday through Monday, 8 hours per day – weekends required
- Pay: $20-$21 hour depending on experience
- Assignment length: 1-2 months
Responsibilities:- Prepare all menu items according to brand standards.
- Perform a variety of cooking techniques.
- Portion food according to direction of Culinary Manager.
- Perform all basic knife skills.
- Carefully follow standard recipe preparation procedures.
- Properly cool and store all foods to appropriate temperatures as required by state and local laws.
- Ensure proper receiving, storage, and rotation of food products to comply with health department regulations.
- Maintain a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Build positive relationships with team members and supervisors.
- Shows commitment to teamwork, knowing when to ask or offer help to and from colleagues.
- Exhibit ability to prioritize work and ensure immediate guest needs are met.
- Assists the Culinary Manager and Culinary Supervisor with tasks requested.
- Understand and follow sanitation practices as set forth by state and local laws.
- Keeps station and coolers clean and neat during shift; properly prepare line for next shift.
- Assist with preparation of other food products on serving line as needed.
- Has complete knowledge of all items on menu, how to cook, plate presentations and portion size.
Required Qualifications:- Must have a High School Degree or Equivalent
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal communication skills are required.
- Must be able to stand long period of time and walk long distances.
- Must be able to bend, pull, push upwards of 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to become First Aid & CPR Certified
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.
- Deliver prompt, excellent service to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
- Maintains current knowledge of the company culture, amenities, and services, events in the area, points of interest.
- Maintain high level of cleaning standards and organization.
- Provide prompt and efficient service in a timely manner.
- 2 years of previous line experience preferred.
- Culinary degree or related hotel experience is preferred.
- Candidate should be able to perform all basic cooking skills.
- Able to work multiple stations in the kitchen
- All other tasks and duties as assigned.
