Job Description – Medicaid Billing Specialist

Summary
The Medicaid Billing Specialist should have a solid background in medical billing and claims, specifically within Medicaid processes. This role is integral to our billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely claims management to optimize revenue cycle performance. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong organizational skills, have excellent communication abilities, and demonstrate both independence and team collaboration skills.
Job Duties
Medicaid Claims Processing: Review, prepare, and submit Medicaid billing claims with accuracy and efficiency.
Error Resolution and Claims Follow-Up: Identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies in claims, ensuring prompt and effective follow-up on outstanding or denied claims.
Compliance and Regulations: Stay current with Medicaid billing requirements, compliance standards, and regulations to minimize claim denials.
Documentation and Record Maintenance: Accurately maintain and update patient billing records, claims submissions, and reports within our billing software.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including finance and customer service, to address billing inquiries, resolve issues, and support continuous process improvement.
Reporting: Prepare and analyze billing and claims reports as needed to support accurate reporting and performance tracking.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in medical billing with specific experience in Medicaid claims processing.
Education: High school diploma or GED required; additional certification in medical billing or coding preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in billing software (specify software if known), and familiarity with general accounting principles and Medicaid billing protocols.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, third-party payers, and internal teams.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
