Job Description

The Payroll Specialist will process multi-company payrolls which includes importing data, validating data and processing payrolls based on required deadlines. This position will partner with other departments and work within the HR team to create processes to ensure that the required data for payroll is accurate and received on time.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Resolve payroll issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner
• Partner with Operations Support team regarding timekeeping, job costing and payroll exports
• Review export files from Operations Support from various timekeeping systems to ensure accuracy before uploading into Paylocity for processing
• Assist with garnishments tracking and validation within Paylocity
• Assist with tax setup/discrepancies at the employee & company level
• Validate new hires, terminations and employee changes within Paylocity to ensure accurate first pay, final pay and first pay with changes
• Partner with the HR team regarding employee setup and changes after validation to ensure corrections are made if necessary
• Experience running multi-state payrolls
• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
• Create and run reports as needed
• Assist with Payroll audits
• Understand proper state and federal taxation laws
• Assist in processing accurate and timely year-end W2 reporting
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities: 

• 5-10 years of experience in payroll processing
• Knowledge of timekeeping requirements generally and in various states
• Ability to audit payroll files
• Ability to accurately enter data into databases and spreadsheet
• Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, with at least an intermediate level of Excel.
• Knowledge of Paylocity a plus
• Knowledge of payroll tax requirements a plus
