is searching for a Senior Network Administrator to join this dynamic team of professionals.
  • We’re looking for a dynamic and innovative professional to join our team, providing advanced-level design and administrative support for our enterprise cabling infrastructure and physical layer interconnectivity of systems. You’ll be at the forefront of designing, coordinating installations, managing exciting projects, and keeping our data, voice, video, and low-voltage systems running smoothly across the organization. From security cameras and alarms to paging, audio-visual, and other critical Facilities systems, you’ll ensure everything is wired for success! Essential Job Duties:

Design, Administer and Troubleshoot

In this role, you will design, architect, install, configure, and maintain the County's cabling infrastructure to support data, voice, video, and other low-voltage systems like cameras, alarms, paging, security, and audio-visual systems. You’ll troubleshoot complex cabling issues, collaborate with IT and Facilities teams, vendors, and contractors to implement new infrastructure, and provide cost estimates for building projects and office moves. You’ll also define cabling specifications, participate in space forecasting for telecom rooms, and contribute to architectural reviews for new construction. Additionally, you’ll assess customer needs, propose solutions, and stay current on industry trends to optimize infrastructure costs. Your role includes managing change effectively, providing timely support, and ensuring policies and procedures are followed to maintain a seamless operation.

Vendor Management/ Project Management

As a key liaison between the county and infrastructure cabling contractors, you'll manage and oversee all aspects of cabling projects, from planning and organizing to supervising technicians and installers. You'll ensure projects stay on budget and on time while maintaining high-quality work and compliance with county and industry standards. This includes coordinating vendor tasks, tracking progress, reviewing invoices, and auditing technician hours. You'll also manage vendor relationships, screen and train technicians, and ensure safety and security protocols are followed. Develop Technical Documentation

You’ll manage and update all cabling system documentation, including building and floor drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and contractor installation records. You'll ensure that all documentation, from complex configurations to cable pathways and riser diagrams, remains accurate and current for smooth operations and disaster recovery.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of qualifying training and/or experience will be considered. AND

  • A minimum of (3) of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 7 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

  • Ability to pass multiple criminal history records checks, including

Specific knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) required for this role:

  • Advanced knowledge of computer skills – Auto CAD, Word, Excel, Visio, Bluebeam and working with architectural drawings.

  • Advanced knowledge of voice processing and local area network systems in a commercial environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of Category 5, 5e and 6 voice and data cabling, fiber optic cabling, coaxial cabling, twisted pair cabling, and testing and troubleshooting.

  • Advanced knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) structured cabling codes and industry low voltage standards for buildings.

  • Working knowledge of IP telephony and transport of IP signaling and data.

  • Working knowledge of carrier services and their connection to telephony and data services.

  • Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), and National Electric Code (NEC) standards.

Location: Multnomah Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland OR, 97214

Schedule: This position is scheduled Monday- Friday 8am-5pm but start/end time can be flexible after review with the manager. Ad hoc telework may be available. All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. We are not able to sponsor H-B1 visas or STEM OPTs.
