Special Education Teacher - Full-Time (K-12)
Start Date: August 26, 2025
Duration: Full School Year (9 months)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking two dedicated Special Education Teachers to join our team-one for a high school classroom and one for a middle/elementary classroom. Under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator, you will deliver high-quality educational services to students with special needs, focusing on individualized instruction, life skills development, and case management.
This is a non-inclusion model, working primarily in self-contained classrooms with students on the autism spectrum. You will play a key role in developing and implementing IEPs, managing caseloads, and collaborating with general education staff to support student success.
Key Responsibilities
+ Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities (K-12)
+ Develop and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
+ Deliver life skills curriculum aimed at certificate of completion
+ Maintain accurate documentation using MOIEP (training provided)
+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
+ Support students in self-contained classrooms (typical ratio: 4 staff to 6-8 students)
+ Participate in on-site orientation and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (preferred)
+ Valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License (required)
+ Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
+ Minimum 1 year of experience working with autistic students
+ Familiarity with life skills curriculum and autism support strategies
+ CPR certification, TB screening, and health clearance as required
