Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
Under the general supervision of the Speech and Language Pathologist and the Principal, the Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) will assist the speech and language pathologist to treat a variety of speech language disorders in children and adults. The SLPA helps assess students in language, voice, fluency, articulation, or hearing and implement treatment plans as directed by speech-language pathologists. Speech Language Pathology Assistants will also collect data, prepare charts, and perform other support duties.
Essential Function of the Job
* Strives to achieve the philosophy and goals of Catholic education as well as the Mission of the School.
* Maintain visual and auditory supervision and awareness of assigned students at all times to ensure their safety in the school environment.
* Collaborate with primary teachers
* Collaborate with parents, teachers, school staff, and designated professionals
* Collaborate with classroom teacher in meeting the student’s individualized goals and report progress to parents and school administration
* Assist with transitions from activity to activity or around campus from class and to assist in social interactions with assigned students.
* Communicate with supervisors and teachers with successes and ongoing concerns for assigned students.
* Establish and maintain cooperative, supportive and effective relationships with all school community.
* Perform other related duties as assigned and demonstrate ability to be flexible and carry out duties

* Must be knowledgeable of learning disabilities and the impact each has upon the academic achievement of a student.

* Must use verbal and written language correctly.
* Must demonstrate an appropriate sense of humor.
* Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of good teaching techniques and child psychology.
* Must maintain appropriate grooming and dress at all times as stated in the faculty handbook.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
* Licensed SLPA or completed coursework in the area of Speech Language Pathology
* Proven participation and continued updating of the Safe Environment Program sponsored through the diocese.
