Position Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE ) in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) invites applications for seven tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the Associate or Assistant Professor ranks. The preference is for appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. 

Research in the ECE Department is divided into five broad areas: Semiconductor Devices, Circuits and Systems, Signals and Systems, Power and Energy Systems, and Computing Systems and Computer Engineering. This search focuses on semiconductor devices, computing systems, and computer engineering. We are interested in micro/nanoelectronics and semiconductor device research areas, including new device physics, emerging technologies, semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, and heterogeneous integration. In the computing-related area, we are interested in AI processors, AI architectures, computing at the edge, quantum computing architecture, and quantum communications. In addition, the search will consider exceptional candidates with research interests that belong to the Energy Science and Technology and Transportation Science and Technology thrusts of the five critical research thrusts of the Jonsson School. This search focuses on electrical and computer engineering aspects of the two thrusts mentioned above. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate-level courses in the core curriculum and the candidate's specialization area. In addition to teaching, the position requires an active research agenda, publication, and service in the UT Dallas and professional communities. 

The appointment is expected to start in the fall 2025 semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required before employment; those with all but dissertation ( ABD ) status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

The Department and School

UT Dallas's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering was founded in 1986 and offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees. According to US News and World Report, the CE and EE graduate programs are ranked 50th and 59th among all universities, respectively. The programs are ranked 27th and 35th among all public universities.  In Texas, ECE is ranked 3rd in its field. The department has over 900 undergraduate students, 400 graduate students, and 52 faculty. Our faculty is highly decorated with many NSF CAREER , DOE Early Career Research Program, YIP ( ONR , AFOSR , DARPA ), NSF , DoD, and industrial awards, averaging over $15M of annual research expenditures. The proximity to the UT Southwestern Medical Center and joint graduate programs offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research.
