Position Overview: As the Environmental Program Manager I (Supervisory), you will lead critical statewide programs focused on inland fisheries, playing a vital role in shaping the future of California's aquatic ecosystems. This position offers the opportunity to directly impact the conservation and management of threatened species, sport fishing resources, and the habitats that support them. You will work closely with a dedicated team of professionals, guiding them through complex environmental challenges and policy development to achieve lasting results.
In this role, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on the sustainability of California's inland fisheries, ensuring the protection and responsible management of our natural resources. Your leadership will drive conservation success, shape public policy, build collaborative partnerships, and innovate for the future—preserving native species and enhancing recreational fishing opportunities statewide. We value leadership that brings different perspectives to the table, enhancing our mission to preserve California’s aquatic biodiversity. Policy & Regulation Development: Lead the development, modification, and implementation of fisheries policies and regulations. Your work will ensure that our management practices are aligned with the latest scientific research and environmental laws. Program Management: Coordinate statewide programs, including the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Program. While prior experience in program management is valuable, we welcome candidates who bring strong project management skills from related fields and are eager to grow in this area. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the Fisheries Branch Tribal Coordinator, fostering partnerships with Tribal communities and representing CDFW in various forums. Your efforts will ensure that diverse perspectives are integrated into our conservation and management strategies. Strategic Planning & Innovation: Lead the planning and execution of new research initiatives to address emerging challenges in fisheries management. Your strategic vision will help CDFW stay ahead of ecological threats and adapt to changing environmental conditions. CDFW is at the forefront of conserving and managing California’s diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources. We are driven by a mission to ensure the sustainability of these resources for future generations while balancing their ecological values with public use and enjoyment.
