Job Description

LaSalle Network has partnered with a national CPG company in Chicago in their search of a Food Scientist . In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of new products and improving existing products as a part of the R&D team.

This is a 6-month contract opportunity, with the potential to convert for the right candidate. Three+ days a week onsite in downtown Chicago. 

Food Scientist Responsibilities:
  • Create, improve and ensure the quality of food products.
  • Research ingredients, develop new recipes, test for taste, oversee safety efforts, etc.
  • Research ways to extend freshness while staying cost-effective and aligned with consumer trends
  • Work closely with Process Engineers, Marketing and Manufacturing staff in project execution and problem solving
  • Lead/support 3+ projects at any given time
Food Scientist Requirements:
  • The ability to apply broad range scientific knowledge to confectionery technology
  • Strong project management skills
  • Comfortable operating laboratory, pilot plant and plant equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong initiative to seek improvements
  • Able to apply strategic thinking, exhibit a collaborative mindset and suggest innovative solutions
  • Highly efficient at planning and staying on timelines and planning projects accordingly
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Engineering or similar scientific field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years’ experience or equivalent knowledge and skill set preferred 
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Working knowledge of SAP PLM preferred
